2018 Canal 1 Day 5 – Burscough Bridge to Wigan via Rufford!

After breakfast 3 of us went to catch a bus to Rufford to join Rhonda for the rip back down the branch, I say bus but it as originally meant to be train but we went to the wrong station! As it turns out it was fortuitous that we didn’t take our boat as there was no sensible place to wind and even Rhonda had to back down the canal to find a turning place. Jackie and Gareth brought our boat to meet us at the junction (there are some lovely cottages next to the junction) moved back to Parbold for lunch and an ice cream for the canal side ice cream parlour. After lunch we continued up the canal and made it through the locks to Wigan Pier in time to water and some of us walked to Poolstock to ring, it was very hot and hard work! Back to the boat to meet some of the others for a curry in town before heading back for the night.
