2014 Canal 2 Day 4 – Cropredy to Napton

Left Cropredy in bright sunshine and blue sky after breakfast. The journey back up to the summit was uneventful and we enjoyed a superb day of warm sunshine and polo shirts – most unseasonal.

IMG_0347.JPGWe stopped at Fenny Compton for water but otherwise kept moving. By the time we reached Marston Doles and the top of the Napton flight it was starting to get dark, we managed 4 locks and moored by bridge 113 leaving us just 4 locks tomorrow. After an excellent supper of bolognese and apple pie Nick set off to walk to Napton church to ring and three of us started singing Byrd’s mass for 3 voices. After a large supper, a G&T and a couple of glasses of wine this proved too much some packed up and went to join Nick.
A pleasant 6 and a welcoming group meant we had fun. On arriving back at the boat some went to bed whilst Robin and I played German Whist.
